community + growth + transformation = LifeGroups

New small group ministries going on now

What is a LifeGroup?
A LifeGroup is a group of people who are striving to glorify God by meeting together
on a regular basis to share, study and serve one another. LifeGroups are encouraged
to “do life together”. LifeGroups promote community, growth, and life transformation
to create fully devoted, spiritually-mature disciples of Christ.

LifeGroups are a relaxed, nonthreatening place which offers an environment for people to deepen relationships through loving ministry to each other and meaningful discussion as they apply God's Word. They also grow closer by actively serving their community in Christ's name and love. LifeGroups are a great place to know Christ, grow in Christ, and show Christ. To foster growing relationships, we strongly encourage all of our members to be actively involved in L.I.F.E. (Love, Instruction, Fellowship, & Evangelism) groups.

Why join a LifeGroup?
Small group ministry is a concept seen throughout the pages of the Bible. Jesus started a small group when He called twelve men to share His life and ministry. The early church continued the use of small groups by meeting in homes to minister to one another, to exercise their spiritual gifts, and to learn to become like Christ. People
saw the love and compassion demonstrated in these small groups and, as a result,
were drawn to Christ.

LifeGroups are the fabric of our church. Everyone who attends LCR on a regular basis should be an active member of a LifeGroup!

How many people are in each group?
A LifeGroup will consist of 6-12 people.

How long are the meetings? Where/when do they meet?
Each group is different, but most group meetings last about 1-2 hours. Groups will meet once per week in a seven-week session. These sessions will begin during the first week of each season of the year. Many groups will meet in homes, but some may meet in restaurants, cafes, or at the church.

What is the commitment?
When you join a LifeGroup, you will be asked to commit to attending the group meetings and participating in the lives of the other group members. The duration of each LifeGroup is seven weeks.

What do you do in the group meetings?
Most meetings include spiritual discussion, prayer and a social time with refreshments.

What kinds of people are in these groups?
Groups are made up of a variety of people in different life stages. Groups are open to singles, couples, and, in some cases, teens.

What is the “Starting Point” group about?
This course is a good place to begin. “Starting Point: The story of God's passionate pursuit of prodigal people” is a course that we recommend you take early on in your small group experience. The course is for those seeking or starting a relationship with God, and it is essential to your small group experience. The materials for “Starting Point” will cost $20 total (for CDs containing the teachings plus workbook). We will be offering the Starting Point group again in Fall 2006.

What about childcare?
Some groups who are meeting at homes or at the church may provide childcare for free or will hire a sitter for a small fee. Please speak to your LifeGroup leader about your childcare needs.

How do I sign up?

An important component to LifeGroups is SERVICE. We encourage LifeGroups to get involved in meeting various needs in the church and community, whether it be serving meals to the homeless, helping widows, volunteering at ministry events or any of the other countless opportunities. It's a life changing and bonding experience for everyone involved!

CELEBRATION is also important! LifeGroups are encouraged to regularly schedule celebration time, when they can look back at what God has done in the group. It's a
time to reflect and get excited about what will happen next!
