Resurrection Music Ministry

Meet LCR's new Vocal Leader, Ann Dietz

June 14, 2008 - We are excited to announce that Ann Dietz has been hired as our new Vocal Leader. Ann will be responsible for overseeing the entire vocal music ministry of Resurrection and will assist our Music Director, Bethany Porter, in developing the LCR music program, with support from music staff, pastor, worship team, staff support team and volunteers. Ann will direct the adult and children choirs as well as Sunday School children’s choir and smaller vocal ensembles. She will provide leadership and enrichment to current vocal music ministries, and will also be responsible for planning and implementing new programs related to music and worship.

Ann holds a BA in Fine Arts from Syracuse University with a vocal concentration. This is Ann’s sixth Lutheran church at which she has served as Vocal Leader for singers ages 5-adult. She has been teaching voice and piano since 1981. Ann’s current fun side project is that she will be a featured soloist with a Connecticut-based 40-piece Big Band/Swing ensemble which will be performing at the National John Philip Sousa Festival in Washington, DC in late June.

We welcome Ann to our LCR Music Ministry team and hope you’ll join us in asking for God’s blessings as she goes forward with her good work here at Resurrection. Ann has graciously served as our volunteer vocal leader for the past several months and we are extremely pleased with her talents, enthusiasm and expertise—she is a very gifted woman. Welcome aboard, Ann!

The LCR Music Ministry invites you to consider participating in worship as a choir member or instrumentalist. We have groups for all ages and interests, ranging from the Handbell Choir, to the Adult and Youth Choirs, guitarists, singers and many other soloists, both vocal and instrumental. What better gift to offer our Savior Jesus Christ than the gift of your music?

You may not have looked upon your singing or playing of an instrument as an expression of faith, but, directed towards God, that is exactly what it is. Interpreting the Word of God on your lips in song is also a form of theological study and a confirmation (or at least an exploration) of your beliefs. And you thought they were just songs!     †

Every week, we experience the joy of being moved by the music of worship in Jesus' name. We give thanks for the talents, hard work and dedication of the musicians and singers that keep the music ministry at Resurrection growing. Click on links in left column to learn about LCR music ministries.
