myGoodDeed.org's 9/11 project for 2009
September 11 is "Good Deed" day. This year, the outreach team is asking for donations of travel size toiletries, water bottles and gently used adult backpacks (no children's character bags please). Donations will be collected on Sunday, September 13 and distributed at the Fall Midnight Run on October 18. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity to ease the burden of our less fortunate brothers and sisters and help make Christ known through service. For more information, please email Linda Horner.
Each year, myGoodDeed.org asks organizations thoughout the U.S. to honor those lost in the 9/11 tragedy by making a pledge to perform a good deed on or around September 11.
Last year, we participated in this program by providing healthy snack bags to Mount Kisco's Neighbor's Link organization for low-income Latinos who visited the facility on 9/10 to register for ESL classes (estimated up to 75 adults--many of whom are young parents.)
During their ESL classes, Neighbor's Link worked to stress the importance of good nutrition to their students. Therefore, the gift of a bag of fruit and other healthy snack items was a welcome treat for their registration process.
Thanks again to all for their assistance in this good deed!
