Welcome to LCR Sunday School 2008
(Note: Sunday School resumes in September at 9am each week)

An update from your Sunday School Directors (October 2007)

Dear Friends in Christ,

It is a joy to have your child in Sunday School. Each class is staffed with two devoted and caring teachers and the curriculum parallels that of the adult class, and each week we have a bulletin available, distributed along with the church bulletin prior to worship. Please use it at home to remind your child of God’s love during the week.

We are beginning to integrate parts of the church liturgy into our opening songs and prayers. In particular, we will be focusing upon The Lord’s Prayer and singing The Doxology ("Praise God from whom all blessings flow…") and Agnus Dei ("Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world…").

Education Hour is from 9:00am-9:45am. At 9:45, several teachers and students have other responsibilities that they need to attend in preparation for our 10:00am worship gathering. We appreciate children being picked up by 9:45.

We do collect a Sunday School offering. It is an opportunity for the students to learn more about stewardship. Please utilize the Sunday School envelopes you have at home. If you cannot find them, an offering can be placed in an envelope with "Sunday School" written on it. If you did not receive offering envelopes, please send in a note with your child and we’ll help secure a set for you.

Adult Bible Study, held in The Soul Café, is a great opportunity to meet with other parents and adults and to be guided through a course of study which again parallels that of the children. Stephen Vlock and Kevin Kelly facilitate a great class!

Finally, keep the Sunday School in your prayers that it may do as God desires, and also be of benefit to your family’s spiritual growth.

In Peace,
The LCR  Sunday School Team

Join us for an exciting season of weaving our faith into our lives.
"Our relationship with God, as GOD wants it"

Make faith an everyday conversation with FaithWeaver bible lessons.
When families talk about their Christian faith, good things happen.
Sunday School lessons become life lessons, lived out all week long.

FaithWeaver Sunday school curriculum gets parents and children on the
same page as they study the same Bible lessons each Sunday. Because
children’s Bible lessons cover the same Bible passages that adults study,
FaithWeaver turns Sunday school lessons into a family affair!

Exciting classes for the whole family available from 9:00am-9:45am:

Each Sunday, we open with a celebration of songs and then break into
small groups for lessons. Groups are comprised of Nursery age, Pre-K & K,
Grades 1 & 2, Grades 3 & 4, Grades 5 & 6, and Adult.

LCR Sunday School Co-directors
Magdalena & Luke Schultheis
with their daughter Michelle

Meet your Sunday School 2007-2008
Co-directors: Magdalena & Luke Schultheis

Resurrection is blessed to welcome our new co-directors of Sunday School this year, Magdalena & Luke Schultheis. Both Magdalena & Luke work at Monroe College, primarily in New Rochelle although Luke often works at the New York City and St. Lucia campuses. Magdalena is a professor of criminal justice and also teaches a variety of liberal arts courses. Luke is dean of one of the schools.

The couple was very active in politics and the hospitality industry until 2002 when their daughter Michelle was born. Magdalena hails from Krakow, Poland and Luke has bounced around the mid-Atlantic, the son and brother of Lutheran pastors. They came to LCR when they moved to Chappaqua in 2005 after searching for a congregation which was welcoming, growing and firmly based in the Word. It was also important for them to find a church full of children, so that Michelle could grow in faith with her peers.

“When there are opportunities to serve, we are to serve,” said Luke. “We feel it is important to be involved in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ and helping to support the wonderful set of Sunday School teachers is a blessing to us.” This Sunday School year, the Schultheis’s hope to continue bringing the Word to children so that they can embrace the grace and love of God and share it with others.

If you have any questions about this year's Sunday School program, please feel free to email Luke Schultheis.
