About Talk n Drum:
Talk n Drum Foreign Language and Music Program is an innovative method that brings together drumming on a variety of percussion instruments, an original repertoire of songs, chanting, movement, and visual aides to support, emphasize and enhance the rhythmic dynamics and overall sound of the language the child is learning to speak. By playing a percussion instrument and chanting in the foreign language simultaneously, or combining the singing of a Talk n Drum song with the movement and visual aides, the child has a multi-sensory experience that allows the possibility of better grasping and retention of information. Bio:
Talk n Drum is a culmination of Nanette Garcia and Maurice Minichino’s many years of experience as instrumentalists, composers, educators, linguists, observers of world cultures, and most importantly, as parents. In addition to being a language acquisition aide, the program was used as a method to promote teamwork and instill a sense of community in their own children, while teaching tolerance and acceptance of all people and the cultures to which they belong.
