Vacation Bible School: July 9-13, 2007

The second week of July began with very hot and humid days but the children who attended the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection’s Vacation Bible School didn’t care, after all they were near the sea, Galilee By-the-Sea that is.

Approximately 100 people, including volunteers, spent the week going back in time 2,000 years to the time of Jesus. Once again, the sanctuary was transformed but this summer it was into a town near Galilee . Everyone dressed in costumes, visited the Synagogue, played some seaside games and became apprentices in marketplace shops such as rope-making, stone-carving, sandal-making, jewelry- making, carpentry, toy-making, fisherman’s net- making, the bakery and more. Music filled the air and singing and dancing was the start and finish to each day. Jesus’ life and miracles were made real through the daily drama skits which were performed near the well. A special appearance by Jesus, played by our own Pastor Horner, resulted in some dropped jaws as well as a few double takes.

All who attended not only learned much but were renewed in their faith and the love our Savior Jesus has for all of us.
