Confirmation class

What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is a two-year faith formation program for youth in the seventh and eighth grades. Young Jesus followers study the Bible and Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, which emphasizes the Ten Commandments, Apostles’ Creed, Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, and Holy Communion. This year will be our Bible year. We will survey the Old and New Testaments.

When does Confirmation class meet?
Confirmation classes begin Thursday, September 27 at 6:30pm for 7th & 8th graders and will continue throughout the year on Thursdays at 6:30pm.

When is the service of Confirmation held?
Students affirm their baptismal vows at a service of Confirmation held every year on Reformation Sunday, the last Sunday in October.

What is expected?
Students are expected to attend each class, worship regularly, and participate in ministry by serving in Sunday School as LifeGroup leaders for younger children
and acolyting, tech crew, or volunteering in the Childcare ministry. Students are also encouraged to participate in Youth outreach programs such as helping to prepare meals for Midnight Run and the Emergency Shelter Partnership.

What curriculum do you use?
Resources used in confirmation class are:
New Living Translation Student Life Application Study Bible, updated edition, $20
The Lutheran Handbook, $15
The Kregel Pictorial Guide to the Bible, $8

How much does it cost?
Confirmation ministry costs the church about $75-100 per year per student. The congregation purchases everything that is needed for the class. Confirmation is supported by your church offering. Please be generous in your support of this church and its ministries through you weekly Sunday offering. (There may be opportunities for retreats and trips that are covered by a small donation.)
