Overview

PHILOSOPHY

Little Blessings provides two, three and four year olds with a safe, loving environment where they can gather, play and learn. Little Blessings' program is intended not only to ready our students for kindergarten through a quality preschool program, but more importantly to do so in an environment where instilling values is first and foremost in our daily routine.

HISTORY

In the winter of 2002 The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection had an outreach vision. Our vision was to create a Christian preschool program in the Mount Kisco area. It was with this vision in mind and the unanimous efforts and support of our congregation, that Little Blessings Christian Preschool was established and opened in September 2002. Our purpose was, and still is, to provide a safe, healthy, and loving Christian environment for children to gather, play and learn.

God has been faithful through the years. Starting with one multi-age class, Little Blessings has blossomed to include a Two Year Old Class, a Three Year Old Class and a Four Year Old Class. We have been blessed by all the families who have entrusted their children to be nurtured and cared for by our staff. Our staff is committed to growing our preschool program one child at a time. Together they devote much time and energy planting seeds of faith in these children, starting them on their own faith journey with God.

FACILITY

The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection was built as a place of worship and with the intent of teaching children.  A spacious hallway encircles the sanctuary, which is at the center of the building. Windows flank the top of the walls of the hallway running the entire perimeter of the building. Classrooms are strategically placed around the outside of the hallway. The classrooms have large windows bringing in an abundance of natural light.

Outside the back of the church is a large patio made of pavers. This is the perfect area for our little ones to ride their tricycles, cars and scooters. Off to the right is the playground shaded by many maple and oak trees. With a swing and slide play set, seesaws and playhouse there is still plenty of room for running and jumping. Of course, the entire area is enclosed by a fence and three gates.

Our classrooms are large and airy. Natural light shines through the many windows along the outside walls. Colorful decorations, furniture and toys are neatly organized into learning centers. Area rugs are positioned around the room to provide the children with comfortable places to sit as they engage in many fun educational activities in small groups or large.  Safety is of utmost importance to us. Our classrooms are well maintained and all equipment has been carefully selected for each age group.

We are equipped with a building security system and monitor all persons entering the building. In addition, all classroom doors are locked when the children are inside. Teachers and aides have the capability to communicate instantly with other staff in the building, the main office and of course emergency personnel, if it becomes necessary to do so.

SCHOOL BOARD

Little Blessings is governed by a board of trustees which meets on a monthly basis. The board determines the mission and purpose of the preschool and ensures effective organizational planning.  It is the responsibility of the board to ensure adequate resources and manage those resources effectively as well as monitor the preschool's programs.
